BADGE #9: COPYRIGHT & PLAGIARISM
To learn more about the basics of copyright, I watched the CrashCourse mini video series on intellectual property, focusing on the second video, which serves as an introduction to copyright infringement. I think it is imperative that we teach our students about the importance of adhering to all laws protecting intellectual property, not just those related to copyright. It is vital that students understand that there are limits on what information and resources they are allowed to use. This is particularly relevant to English classes because of the focus on nonfiction literature and research projects. This is why it is especially important for me personally to prepare students to lawfully engage in research and persuade them to refrain from illegally downloading copyrighted works.
